Life is just too short and unpredictable to waste a single moment.
So after 20 years of working as professional chef & after the Christchurch earthquakes, Richard decided we needed a new direction, selling our catering business that had supported us for 10 years to start something new was a daunting prospect, but well before we sold that business, Richard began making salt seasonings to compliment the various cuts of meats he was cooking. Customers loved the salts, so much so, they began to ask if they could purchase them, thus began the idea for Spicecraft!
So..“Goodbye catering company”..“Hello Spicecraft”
In late 2012 we started to sell our seasonings at our local Farmers Market.
We found from day one, the response was so good that our Salts & BBQ Rubs have not changed at all over the years, today we still sell the same creative flavours that we did on that very first day, just in a lot more locations & in a lot more attractive packaging!
Each of our blends is a unique and complex mixture designed to showcase flavours from around the world, they are also easy to use, whether in the kitchen or on the BBQ, a quality product that inspires loyal and creative customers. We use high quality ingredients sourced from specific trusted suppliers, whilst quality ingredients may cost more in the short term - having customers return time and time again shows the true value of quality.
All our seasonings are gluten free, diary free & MSG free, & vegan friendly too.
We are passionate about what we do, we make, bottle & sell all our products ourselves, we also have two lovely teenaged boys, who also occasionally love to help us sell our products at markets,( as long as we pay them!), it really is a family business!
We now sell at many Fetes, fairs & markets around the country, additionally Spicecraft products are increasingly availability from selected foodie shops nationwide.
